Frequently
Asked Questions
Q:
When will the first production run be completed?
A: There is no set date at this time. There are too many
variables to predict a completion
date. There are 3 different contractors required to
complete a single unit, add this to
the fact that the job is a small run and relative low
priority and one quickly understands
the need to be patient.
Q:
How much will a MakBak cost?
A: It depends on the number of units produced in the
production run. Current estimates are
between $90-130. USD each.
Q:
Will the MakBak allow me to use 2" eyepieces on my telescope?
A: Not effectively. It will be possible to use the SCT
adapter to fit 2" oculars, but the field
will not be fully illuminated, and there will be noticeable
vignetting around the edges of
view. This is because the internal baffle diameter
on the primary is only 1.25", which is
the limiting factor.
Q:
Will the SCT adapter come with the MakBak?
A: The SCT adapter will be available for purchase separately
shortly after the MakBak
production run is completed.
Q:
How do I install a MakBak on my telescope?
A: Download
the installation manual. Read, and be certain you possess the necessary
skills required before attempting any modifications.
Install at your own risk, if there is
any doubt please seek professional assistance.
Q:
What types of benefits should I expect after installation?
A: One should notice a decreased cooling time, and an
increase in contrast. Additional
benefits include access to collimation screws for fine
collimation (which will yield a huge
overall performance increase if the scope is previously
out of alignment), and the
capability to fit SCT accessories with the addition
of the SCT adapter.
